St. Paul Lutheran Church
Ministry Plan
January 10, 2009
The board chairpeople, board members, and officers of the congregation met on Saturday, January 10, 2009, for a planning workshop. In the Vision Statement for the church, which was approved at the Annual Meeting in October, each Board listed goals for the future that they wished to achieve. This planning workshop to develop a Ministry Plan was the first step in working towards accomplishing those goals. Each Board selected three goals to accomplish by the end of 2009, and some also chose a longer, five-year goal to begin work on. Specific, detailed plans were then written on how to accomplish each goal. Following are the goals chosen by the six Boards:
Board of Christian Education
1. Acquire a video projector
2. More volunteer teachers available: provide a training class
3. Begin an exercising Bible study group
4. Leadership for more specialized ministry: middle and high school youth
Board of Church Property
1. Reroof the church building, education wing, and 9th Street rental house
2. Replace concrete driveway and some sections of sidewalk
3. Paint soffets, windows, and overall church building
4. Begin to consider the need for a nursing home and/or assisted living facility
Board of Evangelism
Serve the Lord joyfully by witnessing to the unchurched about Christ: offer congregational evangelism training program
Board of Lay Ministry
1. Increase attendance at worship services
2. Increase the effectiveness of the Small Group Ministry program
3. Provide ministry in a consistent manner to the congregation and the community
Board of the Preschool
1. Day care center on-site, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. -- fulfillment of this goal will also accomplish these goals:
2. Develop an on-going plan, which will be increasingly effective in reaching out to the families enrolled in the Preschool
3. Full-time called position for Director
4. Health benefits and retirement program available for all full-time teachers
Board of Stewardship
1. Complete the "Consecrated Stewards" Stewardship Program
2. Strive to be a large, active membership, with loving hearts
3. Increase the giving of each giving unit of our congregation by 1% of annual income per year over the next ten years, each striving to meet the goal of tithing (10%) or greater
